Concert Redux

So I’m ramping up to relaunch my old blog, jamiesbrain.com. I’m going back and looking at my old show reviews, and I’ll have to say, I’m pretty stoked. I’ve seen some great shows over the past few years. In case you’re interested in reminiscing, as well as seeing how my writing has evolved (b/c some of it truly sucks), check out some of these oldies but goodies.

Anger Management Tour: 50 Cent and Eminem, Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Selma, TX, July 2005. Front row GA.

Audioslave, Bill Graham Civic in SF, August 2005. Almost front row GA.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Golden Gate Park, October 2005. Nowhere near the front.

LCD Soundsystem, The Fillmore, October 2005 Haha! Most of you hadn’t heard of them yet! Only about 150 in-tha-know peeps there.

Weezer/Foo Fighters @ Oakland Coliseum, October 2005
. Funny show. Rivers Cuomo, we’re glad you’re coming back.

Nine Inch Nails, SBC Center, San Antonio, October 2005. My first fan club show. 2nd row in front of Aaron.

Lady Sovereign/The Streets, The Fillmore, June 2006
. A few rows back, and luckily, nowhere in jumping distance of the balcony.

BFD 2006, Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View, CA, June 2006. First row of the second tier.

every move a picture/the rakes, GAMH, July 2006. Tiny venue.

Nine Inch Nails/Bauhaus/Peaches, Shoreline Amphitheater, July 2006 9th row I think, almost in the middle. Sick.

Guns ‘n Roses, The Warfield, September 2006. Second row GA.

Download Festival: Beck, YYYs, Muse, The Shins, TV on the Radio, Shoreline Amphitheater, October 2006. 10th row? Enough to get blown away by Muse.

Brief reviews of Fischerspooner, Candlebox, Zero 7, and Every Move a Picture. All fairly small GA shows.

Bridge School Benefit: Neil Young, DMB, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Trent Reznor, Death Cab, Gillian Welch, and Devendra Banhart, Shoreline Amphitheater, October 2006. 7th row smack in the center. Most expensive tix I ever bought.

Brief reviews of Placebo, She Wants Revenge, Gomez, Snoop Dogg, and Shooter Jennings . Varied positions at GA.

Brief reviews of GWAR, Hot Chip, Alice in Chains, The Faint, and Prince. All GA shows, close enough to get sufficiently hurt.

And then, hardrockchick.com was born. Hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am!!!

P.S. Damn, I spent a lot of money on tix. Someone please start guestlisting me! It’s my only HRC goal!

P.P.S. I’m even missing lots of shows: there should be some more NIN (2), Bright Eyes (2), Willie Nelson (3?), David Bowie (1), The Faint (1), Jack Johnson (1), Atmosphere (2), Peaches (1), Pinback (1), The Shins (1), Beastie Boys (1), ACL Festival 2004, and Bob Dylan (2) reviews…Am I crazy?
