Please let this be true. Aversion.com reports that The Faint will be remixing an undisclosed song from Year Zero. They are thinking that this might turn up on the Capital G remix CD that T-Rez has hinted at.
Once again, please let this be true.

In 1984, to compete with MTV, Disney created a series of cartoon videos to popular songs. I absolutely loved them. At the same time, it freaks me out the Disney’s crazy way of dealing with MTV introduced me to such great songs as ‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’ and ‘We Are Family’. These were quite possibly the original mash up video.
The intro might jar your memory:
And here are some examples, though not of the ones I remember. Boy, Lady and the Tramp was a bit scandalous…

When I’m not checking out a show at The Warfield or The Independent….you might find me at one of these places.
Monthly mash up parties at DNA Lounge…it’s Bootie SF
Best place to feel up an artist before anyone knows who they are….Popscene
Guaranteed to see some of the craziest/worst fashion ever while seeing some kick ass acts live at Rickshaw Stop
You’re out clubbing and this amazing band happens to come on stage….that’s what it feels like at Mezzanine.
Tiny dive bar, tiny stage, peephole window to see the drumer’s bum from the smoking patio…it’s gotta be Bottom of the Hill

So I’m a little partial to Austin bands. I’m even more partial to Austin bands that move to the Bay Area. Giant Squid fits into this category.
Their music is pretty heavy while still being indie rock–some of the vocals borderline on the metal scream, but, as you know, I like this. Their use of cello is wonderful, especially since it is a their one chick member.
Here’s footage of them playing at one of my fave places in Austin, Emo’s:
Definitely give them a listen.

ACL, tsk tsk. You do an almost great job. Hot sun, local vendors, sweet bands….and then you go and screw it all up when you make a schedule where bands with similar fans play conflicting sets. I am sure glad I’m not going….I’d have to tear myself in two and scream at you.
But if I were going, this is who I’d try to see. And I’ll say it again, I don’t like some of the choices I had to make.

The grungy jesus looks may be gone, but Chris Cornell can still wail. Soundgarden is one of the best bands ever. This clip is from a 1990 performance.

Green Day may not be the most agro rock around, but Billie Joe Armstrong was mad this night.
