At one show I attended in ~2002, he spent the entire performance behind back-lit screens and all you saw was his shadow. While a bit disappointing at first, I've come to deeply respect this approach to singing in a rock band. Being a vocalist, rather than a front-man. Actively eschewing the "look at me!" cult-of-personality that often forms around the singer, and keeping it about the music. Tool makes some of the tightest, most original and cerebral rock out there today. I love love love the fact that ALL members of the band get equal credit for it on stage.
