Do you remember that time you were at that show and that thing happened and it just totally blew your mind?
I live for those moments.
I’m a fan just like you that starting writing about my experiences at all the shows I went to back in 2007 for fun. This site is about my life and the music I go to see; you won’t find critical commentary, album reviews, or news tidbits here. I only go see things I’m interested in. My goal is to make you feel like you were there, to be the voice of the rock and metal fan…and to hopefully introduce you to new music along the way.
I don’t make a dime writing this site- it is my very involved hobby. I run my site completely by myself. Sometimes if I’m lucky I’ll interview a band I’m really into. I use twitter, facebook, and instagram to post from shows in real time if you’re into that kind of thing.
I attend mostly hard rock and metal shows. My favorite band is Nine Inch Nails, but close runners up to that are Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, A Perfect Circle, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I also never pass up seeing Slayer, Enslaved, Satyricon, Behemoth, Combichrist, Cannibal Corpse, Jane’s Addiction, or Motörhead when they come to town. I’m also very into classic rock, and chase seeing remnants of those bands when I can: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, and The Doors. And newer bands that I am really into include Evile, Black Breath, Rival Sons, Orchid, and Landmine Marathon.
I’m most at home in small, sweaty venues, where I’m up front and can see every detail to pass on to you. I love a good theatrical performance, especially if it’s shock rock; I don’t think there’s much that’s more fun to write about than GWAR, Watain, Peaches, Shat, Rammstein….
I’ve been the Rock Blogger for the GRAMMYs since 2010, reporting on all things rock for Music’s Biggest Night. I was randomly contacted by the Recording Academy one day in 2009, and I’m honored to represent the voice of the rock fan for them.
I currently split time between Los Angeles, CA and Austin, TX. For my “real” jobs, I tend to a family business and am a research consultant, mostly in the entertainment industry. I have a siamese cat named Anubis, I do a lot of pilates, yoga, and hiking, I love to cook, have traveled the world, and am still looking for the love of my life.
