“fruit and flowers”
Posted on 06.17.08 by hardrockchick @ 10:20 pm

…apparently, that’s financial code for coke and hookers in the music biz. The NY Times had a lengthy article on an industry outsider swooping in to try to turn around EMI on Monday. One of his mission- eliminate any “fruit and flowers” line items being billed to the record company. Man, the good days are behind us, aren’t they?

The Gray Kid reads

Nice article on The Gray Kid. But, I don’t know when Andre 3000 got downgraded to Andre 2000.

Read my Gray Kid reviews here.

This makes me feel weird. Tommy Lee, ok. Paris, duh. Vince Neil, no thanks. Hendrix? I know he was plaster casted- but seriously.

Anti-emo Mexico
Posted on 04.06.08 by hardrockchick @ 8:46 am

I’ve been know to make my occasional anti-emo joke. But some Mexican kids anti-emo sentiments are coming to blows. It seems that fights between the punks and the emo kids are breaking out on a large scale in Mexico.

Unfortunately, it appears that, rather than attacking their bad taste in music, they are attacking their sexuality. In Mexico, boys wearing makeup must still be attributed to homosexuality rather than a style dictated by the music. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

NIN vs. Radiohead, part deux
Posted on 04.02.08 by hardrockchick @ 11:50 pm

Seriously? A remix site. If Celebrity Deathmatch were still on, this would be a great pairing. Radiohead, however, makes you pay for the individual files.

And now The Raconteurs how somewhat jumped into the mix with the spontaneous release of their latest album.

Interesting times. Keep one-upping each other, kids.

Chinese Democracy’s a Pepper
Posted on 04.02.08 by hardrockchick @ 11:41 pm

In a unique leveraging of events, Dr. Pepper has announced that it will give a free Dr. Pepper to everyone in America- excluding the band members involved in the album (which includes Slash and Buckethead)- if Chinese Democracy is released in 2008. Axl replied that he’s ‘happy to have the support of Dr. Pepper’.

So, you might either be able to enjoy what will probably be a very ’90’s sounding album with a very ’90’s drink sometime in the next 9 months. Don’t hold your breath.
